Chinese Embassy in Algeria Holds Gathering with Xinjiang Mukamu Art Troupe

On September 5th, 2009, the Chinese Xinjiang Mukamu Art Troupe which is giving commercial performances in Algeria held a gathering with staff of the Chinese embassy.

 

Ambassador Liu Yuhe extended welcome to the Art Troupe in his speech. He said that the twelve Mukamu is a treasure of the Chinese art, and has been defined by UNESCO as "the Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity". The coming of the art troupe in Ramadan, the common festival of all Muslims in the world, not only increases the Algerian people's understanding of the Uigur traditional culture, but also deepens the friendship between the two peoples, and is of great significance. He is sure that the troupe's performance will be a full success.

 

Ai Tulan, the leader of the troupe, thanked the Chinese embassy in Algeria for its gracious hospitality and active support to the troupe, saying that the growth of the motherland has made the performers feel proud when performing the Chinese art and culture in other parts of the world, and they are willing to make their efforts to promote the Chinese ethnic culture to the world.
