CPC Shaanxi Provincial Secretary Visits Egypt
2009/04/21

From April 16th to 20th, 2008, Zhao Leji, secretary of the CPC Shaanxi Provincial Committee, headed a delegation to visit Egypt at the invitation of the government of Cairo.

During the visit, Zhao met with Governor Wazir of Cairo and signed an agreement on the establishment of friendly relations between Shaanxi and Cairo, which was also attended by the Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Wu Chunhua.

On the signing ceremony, Zhao said that Xi'an, the capital city of Shaanxi Province, and Cairo are both world-renowned heritage cities, and there is great potential for bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, culture, education and tourism. Wazir said that the Egyptian government and people highly appreciate the great achievements China has scored in its economic growth and other fields, stressing that Cairo, as the capital city of Egypt, is willing to further strengthen friendly cooperation with Shaanxi and other provinces in China.

On the Shaanxi-Cairo Economic and Trade Cooperation Fair and the signing ceremony, the China XD Group singed a letter of intent and relevant agreements with EGEMAC on the cooperation on Egyptian XD Industrial Park, involving a total investment of 600 million yuan, of which the Chinese company holds 51% of the share. Moreover, Chinese and Egyptian enterprises also signed contracts on the trade of heavy trucks.
