MONROVIA, March 27 (Xinhuanet) -- The Transitional Government of Liberia is discussing with the Chinese government to use proceeds from a donation as a "devolving fund" to import rice, Liberian Commerce and Trade Minister Samuel Wlue said here at the weekend. "If an agreement is reached, the intent of it would be to cushion the rice market in Liberia," he said. The Chinese government donated 4,000 tons of rice to the Liberian government in January this year at a time of increasing demands for the commodity in the West African country. According to the commerce and trade minister, 975,000 US dollars will be generated from the sale of the donation. The Liberian government is currently confronted with intermittent rice price hikes by unscrupulous businessmen. Enditem
