QUITO, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa on Thursday met with senior Chinese political advisor Bai Lichen to exchange views on how to further the friendly relations between the two countries.

President Correa welcomed Bai, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, at Carondelet Palace, seat of the Ecuadorian government, and expressed his appreciation for Bai's visit.

He said China has a long history and profound civilization, and that Ecuador admires China's achievements in its reform and opening up, and is willing to work with China to further the healthy development of their ties.

Bai said China and Ecuador are now enjoying their best-ever relations and both sides can cooperate in numerous fields.

He expressed the hope that the good momentum for developing the bilateral ties would be maintained through the joint efforts of both sides.

Bai arrived in Ecuador on Wednesday as part of his three-nation tour to Latin America, which has taken him to Mexico and Colombia.
