On January 14, 2006, Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing met with all staffs of the Chinese Embassy in Mali, representatives from Chinese-funded agencies, heads of expert teams and representatives of overseas Chinese in the Chinese Embassy in Mali and delivered an important speech.

Foreign Minister Li briefed on the domestic and international situation. He conveyed the cordial greetings of State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan, Vice Foreign Minister Dai Bingguo and Commerce Minister Bo Xilai to the staffs of the Chinese Embassy in Mali and representatives from the Chinese-funded agencies. He expressed his appreciation for their contribution to the diplomatic cause of the motherland, the enhancement of economic and technological cooperation between China and Mali and the promotion of China-Mali traditional friendship. He commended them for the sacrifice they made to the motherland and their devotion to work in such a tough environment for so many years. He hoped that all staffs of the embassy and Chinese-funded agencies will make great efforts to fulfill the diplomatic objective of maintaining world peace and promoting common development, accomplish the glorious mission endowed by the motherland and the people in the front line of diplomatic work, and make greater contribution to promoting China-Mali and China-Africa friendships in the new year. Lastly, Foreign Minister Li hoped that all staffs could have a propitious, wishful and nice spring festival in the foreign land. He wished them the very best of luck in their jobs, good health and every success in their careers in the new year.
