Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference , China's top political advisory body, made the remarks during his talks with Abdallah Kallel, president of the Chamber of Advisers of Tunisia.

Jia, who arrived here earlier Sunday on an official good-will visit, spoke highly of the remarkable achievements made in the development of bilateral friendship and cooperation in the past 43years of bilateral diplomatic ties.

He mentioned the increasingly frequent contacts at various levels, continuously growing political mutual trust, expanding economic and trade cooperation, and sound coordination in international and regional affairs between the two sides.

China appreciated the Tunisian side's adherence to the one-China policy, Jia said.

He said the Chinese side will keep bilateral high-level contacts, strengthen exchanges and consultations between governments, parliaments and political parties of the two countries, and enhance coordination and cooperation in international affairs.

Jia noted that his current visit to four African countries is aimed at implementing the important consensus reached between leaders of China and African countries, and pushing forward the further implementation of the results acquired during the Beijing summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FCAC) held in November last year.

He said he hoped that China and Tunisia will strengthen cooperation and push for the long-term, steady and sound growth of bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

Jia said the CPPCC National Committee will strengthen exchanges with the Tunisian Chamber of Advisers so as to make contributions to the overall development of bilateral ties.

Kallel said the Tunisian side holds that there are still huge potentials for bilateral cooperation in many fields, and it is confident in the future development of bilateral relations.

He said the Tunisian side will continue to abide by the one-China policy, and it looks forward to strengthening cooperation with China in economy, trade, infrastructure construction and tourism in a bid to jointly implement the FCAC Beijing summit achievements.

Kallel said the Tunisian Chamber of Advisers attaches importance to relations with the CPPCC National Committee, and will enhance exchanges and cooperation between the two sides.

Tunisia is the first leg of Jia's visit to four African countries, which will also take him to Ghana, Zimbabwe and Kenya.
