Remarks at Reception for Celebrating Mille Food's First Export to China by Ambassador Deng Ying

Mr. Troels Lund Poulsen, Minister for Employment,

Mr. Wang Weiqing, CEO of Mille Food,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am very happy to attend today’s Reception for Celebrating Mille Food’s First Export to China. On behalf of the Chinese Embassy, I want to extend warm congratulations to Mille Food.

Just now, on my way to the factory, my colleague told me, for all milk powder produced here, at the bottom of each can, there is a bar code, according to which, Moms in China can easily trace every aspect of production and circulation of the milk powder. Like a bridge, those little cans of milk powder will link China and Denmark.

For Denmark, its food industry is well-known around the world. A little can of milk powder is a miniature of Denmark’s advanced food industry. For China, more and more young parents hope their kids would enjoy healthier and better baby food. In 2017, there are over 17 million babies born in China. Obviously, its huge market is rather attractive.

As we know, nowadays the trade protectionism is rising around the globe. However, China decides to further open its market. In the report at the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, it is announced that China will not close its door to the world; we will only become more and more open. At the 13th National People’s Congress, when delivering Report on the Work of the Government, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang reiterated China’s commitment to economic globalization and free trade and its opposition to trade protectionism. Action speaks louder than words. This year, China will host the first China International Import Expo (CIIE). It is a significant move for China to actively open its market. I hope more and more Danish enterprises to attend CIIE and benefit from it.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am very happy to share with you the story of Mr. Martin Thomsen, CFO of Mille Food. Mr. Thomsen once worked in Copenhagen and had to spend more than 2 hours in commuting. However, since he works here, he enjoys walking to office every day and spending more time accompanying his family.

The year of 2018 is 10th anniversary of China-Denmark Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Thanks to the pragmatic cooperation between China and Denmark, now more and more Chinese enterprises like Mille Food, contribute to the economic and trade ties between the two countries and also create more jobs and tax revues for the local society.

Finally, wish Mille Food great success, providing more high-quality products for China and more job opportunities for Denmark. The Chinese Embassy would always like to support the Chinese enterprises to go abroad and provide assistance and service.

Thank you!
