Liu Yandong Meets with President U Thein Sein of Myanmar

On December 11, 2013 local time, Vice Premier Liu Yandong of the State Council, met with President U Thein Sein of Myanmar in Naypyidaw.

Liu Yandong first conveyed the sincere greetings from President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang. U Thein Sein expressed his gratitude and asked her to convey his good wishes to the Chinese leaders.

Liu Yandong said, Your Excellency established China-Myanmar comprehensive strategic partnership with the Chinese leaders at your first visit to China after taking office. You paid another two visits to China this year, and reached important consensus with President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang, charting the course for China-Myanmar relations under the new situation. I came at the invition to attend the opening ceremony of the Southeast Asian Games this time. It is to share the grand event with Myanmar, and also to implement the important consensus between the state leaders of the two countries and to push forward China-Myanmar friendly cooperation..

Liu Yandong briefed the the Third Plenum of the 18th CPC Central Committee as well as economic and social development in China. She said that comprehensively deepening reform will make historic changes in China, and will also bring a lot of opportunities to Myanmar. China-Myanmar mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation enjoys wide perspective. China is willing to work together with Myanmar to deepen cooperation in various fields, and to continue to push forward the development of China-Myanmar friendship.

Liu Yandong said, Your Excellency has paid much attention and has personally promoted people-to-people and cultural exchanges between China and Myanmar. China is willing to take the Southeast Asian Games as an opportunity to further encourage institutions of education, healthcare, sports and media of both countries to strengthen exchanges, and to continue to enrich the contents of China-Myanmar relations.

U Thein Sein thanked China for offering help for Myanmar hosting the Games. The Chinese state leader attending the opening ceremony shows that China attaches importance to Myanmar-China relations and the support for Myanmar as always. However the situation changes inside and outside Myanmar, Myanmar will always adhere to the friendship with China and deepen all-dimensional bilateral cooperation.
