Wang Yi Holds Talks with Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali of Nepal

On September 9, 2019 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali of Nepal in Katmandu.

Wang Yi said, China and Nepal are connected by mountains and rivers, and the two peoples enjoy ever-lasting friendship. The two countries have always respected, understood, trusted and supported each other, setting a model of equal treatment and mutual benefit and win-win results between big and small countries. The Chinese side is grateful to the Nepali side for its long-term support over issues related to the Chinese side's core interests and major concerns, and will, as always, support the Nepali side in maintaining its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, independently choosing a development path that suits its national conditions, and realizing the bright vision of "Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali." The Chinese side stands ready to continue to offer assistance within its ability to facilitate Nepal's social and economic development. The Chinese side will work together with the Nepali side to jointly build the Belt and Road Initiative, push forward the building of the Trans-Himalayan Multi-Dimensional Connectivity Network, deepen cooperation in economy, trade, investment, production capacity, transportation and infrastructure construction, and help Nepal transform from a land-locked country to a land-linked one. The Chinese side is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with the Nepali side in regional and international affairs, jointly safeguard multilateralism and international fairness and justice, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Pradeep Kumar Gyawali said, Nepal and China enjoy a time-honored friendship. Nepal always regards China as a good friend and trustworthy partner. The Nepali side firmly supports the Chinese side in safeguarding its national sovereignty and own interests, and will continue to stick to the One China principle and never allow any force to engage in anti-China activities in Nepal. Nepal expresses congratulations the People's Republic of China on the 70th anniversary of its founding and wishes beforehand China's realization of the two centenary goals and the Chinese Dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation as scheduled. Nepal stands ready to learn China's development experience to advance Nepal's national development, improve the living standards of the Nepali people, and graduate from the status of least-developed country at an early date. The Nepali side actively supports the Belt and Road Initiative, and is willing to make joint efforts with the Chinese side to promote the building of the Trans-Himalayan Multi-Dimensional Connectivity Network to connect the two countries more closely. Attaching importance to China's international status and influence, the Nepali side appreciates China's adherence to the neighborhood diplomacy policy featuring amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness as well as the philosophy of building a community with a shared future for mankind, and stands ready to strengthen communication and cooperation with the Chinese side on regional and international affairs.
