President Bidhya Devi Bhandari of Nepal Meets with Wang Yi

On September 9, 2019, President Bidhya Devi Bhandari of Nepal met with State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the President's Office in Kathmandu.

Bidhya Devi Bhandari asked Wang Yi to convey her warm greetings to President Xi Jinping. Bidhya Devi Bhandari said, Nepal and China are friendly neighbors with a long history of friendship, and there are no difficulties or obstacles in bilateral relations. Nepal sincerely thanks China for its long-term support and assistance to Nepal. Nepal firmly adheres to the One China policy, and will not allow any forces to engage in anti-China activities in Nepal. Nepal admires the great achievements the People's Republic of China has made over the past 70 years since its founding, firmly believes that China can realize the Two Centenary Goals and the Chinese Dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and stands ready to learn China's successful development experience. The Nepali side is actively participating in the Belt and Road Initiative put forward by President Xi Jinping, and is willing to accelerate the building of the Trans-Himalayan Multi-Dimensional Connectivity Network with the Chinese side. The Nepali side sincerely invites Chinese leaders to visit Nepal to elevate bilateral cooperation to a new level. Nepal attaches great importance to China's international status, appreciates the Chinese side's position on climate change and other issues, and is willing to continue to support and cooperate with the Chinese side in international and regional affairs.

Wang Yi conveyed President Xi Jinping's sincere greetings to Bidhya Devi Bhandari. Wang Yi said, as a reliable and good neighbor and partner of Nepal, China has always supported Nepal in exploring a development path in line with its national conditions, in maintaining political stability and in speeding up national development and construction in Nepal. Both China and Nepal are governed by the communist party, so it is in a better position for the two countries to strengthen mutual understanding and support, develop sound bilateral relations and practical cooperation, and jointly promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. Ms. President made a successful state visit to China in April this year, and reached important consensus with President Xi Jinping on inheriting and carrying forward the traditional friendship between China and Nepal, jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative, building the Trans-Himalayan Multi-Dimensional Connectivity Network, and strengthening people-to-people and cultural exchanges. The two sides should well implement the consensuses, push the China-Nepal comprehensive cooperative partnership featuring ever-lasting friendship into a new stage and write a new chapter under the new historical conditions.

During his visit to Nepal, Wang Yi also held talks and meetings on separate occasions with Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Oli, Co-Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party Puspa Kamal Dahal, President of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba, and Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali.
