Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Qin Gang's Remarks on China-Related Issues in the US Country Reports on Terrorism 2013

Q: US Department of State released the Country Reports on Terrorism 2013, saying that "China's cooperation with the United States on counter-terrorism issues remained marginal, with little reciprocity in information exchanges" and that China lacks credible and detailed evidence in characterizing some of the domestic terrorist attacks. What is China's comment?

A: China has noted the report released by US Department of State, and we are dissatisfied with the misstatement relating to China.

I want to highlight the fact that China is a victim of terrorism, and is consistently and resolutely opposed to any form of terrorism, as well as any individual who carries out or supports terrorist activities under any pretext. In fighting against terrorism, the Chinese government stands firmly by principles and laws, takes a comprehensive approach by addressing both the symptoms and root causes to eradicate the breeding ground of terrorism. We oppose linking terrorism with any specific ethnic community or religion.

Terrorism is a common enemy of human kind, and the international community should form synergy in combating terrorism. It will not help international cooperation on counter-terrorism by making irresponsible remarks on other countries and applying double standards with regards to counter-terrorism. China always values and actively involves in international counter-terrorism cooperation. Based on the principle of mutual respect and equal-footed cooperation, China is willing to carry out exchanges and cooperation with other countries in combating terrorism.
