|(23 July 2004)|
On 23 July, 30 Spanish University Students who are attending a summer program in New York visited the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations. Officials from the political, economic and press sections of the Mission met with the students, and discussed with them on a bunch of issues such as China's economic growth, people's living standards, western region development, 4th amending of the Constitution, national defense, combating SARS, as well as the stands of China on the Iraqi war, the role of the United Nations and safeguarding world peace and stability.
The students, who are from the Pontificia Comillas University of Madrid, were delighted for having the chance to visit the Mission of China and have discussions with the Chinese diplomats. The students all felt that this visit had enabled them to acquire better understanding of and deeper interest in China. They were convinced that China-Spain relations would develop further and grow in strength.
