On July 3, 2023, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs Wang Yi attended and addressed the opening ceremony of the International Forum for Trilateral Cooperation (IFTC) 2023 in Qingdao.

Wang Yi pointed out the three countries should adhere to openness and inclusiveness, and help each other succeed. He noted that China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea (ROK) are all beneficiaries of economic globalization. After the World War II, Japan and the ROK embarked on a fast track of development by riding the wave of economic globalization. Over the past more than 40 years, China has accelerated the process of development and rejuvenation through reform and opening up to become the second largest economy in the world, and has embarked on a new journey to build itself into a modern socialist country.

In essence, China, Japan and the ROK are interdependent and mutually beneficial in their relations. It is important that the three countries foster a sense of partnership, show a global vision, and truly see each other's development as their opportunities. China will vigorously promote opening up at a higher level, and welcomes Japan and the ROK to get on-board the express train of China's high-quality development, to jointly create a bright future for the three countries and Asia at large.
