China and Congo(Kinshasa)

The friendly and cooperative relations between the People's Republic of China and the Democratic Republic of Congo (D.R. Congo) continued to grow steadily in 2013.

The two countries maintained frequent political exchanges. In March, President Joseph Kabila Kabange and President of National People's Assembly Aubin Minaku sent letters of congratulations to President Xi Jinping and NPC Chairman Zhang Dejiang respectively on their election. In April, Secretary General of the People's Party for Reconstruction and Democracy Evariste Boshab sent a letter of condolences to Secretary General Xi Jinping following the earthquake in Lushan, Sichuan Province. In February, Ambassador Zhong Jianhua, the Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs, visited D.R.Congo and met with Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Budget Daniel Mukoko Samba and Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and La Francophonie Raymond Tshibanda N'tungaMulongo. In June, the ruling People's Party for Reconstruction and Democracy of D.R.Congo sent a delegation to visit China.

Economic cooperation and trade enjoyed good development. Projects like the Agriculture Demonstration Center, the second phase of National Optical Fiber Backbone Transmission Network Project, Zongo II Hydroelectric Power Plant Project were well underway. In March, Managing Director of the National Agency for the Promotion of Investments Mathias Buabua Wa Kayembe visited China. In August, a government delegation from Kinshasa participated in the 21st Guangzhou Fair.

Exchange and cooperation in other fields were frequent. In March, Mayor of Kinshasa André Kimbuta Yango led a delegation to visit Jiangxi Province. The Congolese National Radio and Television (RTNC) sent a team to China to film a documentary named as I've Visited China, and a dance troupe from the National Art House of the D.R. Congo participated in the Chengdu International Festival of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
