On March 26, 2023, the Foreign Ministers of China and Honduras signed in Beijing the Joint Communiqué on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations Between the People´s Republic of China and the Republic of Honduras on behalf of their representative governments.

From June 9 to 14 of 2023, President of the Republic of Honduras Iris Xiomara Castro Sarmiento paid a state visit to China and on June 12 met with President Xi Jinping.
