China and Venezuela

In 2021, the comprehensive strategic partnership between the People's Republic of China and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela continued to deepen.

Strategic mutual trust kept strengthening. In June, President Nicolás Maduro Moros sent a congratulatory letter to General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping on the 100th anniversary of the CPC. In April, NPC Chairman Li Zhanshu had a video meeting with President of Venezuela's National Assembly Jorge Rodriguez Gómez. State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi sent a letter of sympathy to Venezuelan Foreign Minister Félix Plasencia González on the flooding in Venezuela. In September, State Councilor Wang Yi had a phone call with Foreign Minister Plasencia. In August, CPPCC Vice-Chairman and Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission He Lifeng had a virtual meeting with Venezuela's Vice President Delcy Rodriguez Gómez, Cooperation against COVID continued to advance. At the request of Venezuela, China provided a large number of COVID vaccines for the country and assisted its procurement of anti-COVID and other medical supplies from China.

People-to-people and cultural exchanges were conducted with new measures. Themed activities marking the 72nd anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 47th anniversary of the establishment of China-Venezuela diplomatic relations held online or in other forms in Venezuela were well received.
