Consul General CAI meets with the Mayor of Houston Mr. Sylvester Turner

On September 9th, Consul General Cai Wei met with Sylvester Turner, Mayor of Houston.

Mayor Turner extended a warm welcome to Consul General CAI, saying that he and the Houston city will continue to support the work of the Chinese Consulate General in Houston and Consul General CAI and actively promote the friendship and cooperation between Houston and China. Mayor Turner said Houston, the fourth largest city in the United States, has a vibrant economy and growing cultural diversity. In particular, the Chinese community has contributed greatly to the economic and social development of the city, and he expresses his sincere admiration.

Consul General CAI thanked Mayor Turner for his introduction and said that Houston plays an important role in China-US relations. It was an important stop of Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping's historic visit to the United States in 1979 and also the host city of the first Chinese Consulate General in the United States. He hoped that under the leadership of Mayor Turner, the City of Houston would continue to expand friendly cooperation with China.
