H.E. Mr. Chen Daojiang, Chinese Ambassador to Jamaica met with Ms. Irena Cousins, President of the Jamaica-China Friendship Association (JCFA) on June 15th, 2022.

Ambassador Chen introduced to President Cousins the overall situation of China’s economic and social development and illustrated on the great significance of Global Development Initiative (GDI) and Global Security Initiative (GSI) proposed by President Xi Jinping for maintaining world peace and security and promoting common development. Ambassador Chen spoke highly of the work done by the JCFA in enhancing China-Jamaica people-to-people exchanges and friendship. Ambassador Chen said that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Jamaica, and it is hoped that the JCFA continue playing its role as the bridge and bond for strengthening China-Jamaica friendship, actively participate in related celebration events and further enhance China-Jamaica people-to-people exchanges so as to jointly promote China-Jamaica strategic partnership to a higher level.

President Cousins welcomed Ambassador Chen to his new post and briefly introduced the trajectory of the JCFA. President Cousins said that the GDI and GSI proposed by President Xi Jinping have charted the course for world peace and common development, and China will surely achieve greater progress in economic and social development under the wise leadership of President Xi Jinping. The JCFA will continue enhancing communication and cooperation with the Chinese Embassy in Jamaica and actively participate in related events celebrating the 50th anniversary of Jamaica-China diplomatic relations with the aim of yielding more fruits for bilateral cooperation in people-to-people exchanges.

Ambassador Chen presented Xi Jinping: The Governance of China (Volume Three, English Version) to President Cousins as a gift during their meeting.
