H.E. Mr. Chen Daojiang, Chinese Ambassador to Jamaica paid a courtesy call on Senator the Honourable Leslie Campbell, State Minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica on 20 June 2022.

Ambassador Chen Daojiang said that Jamaica has always been China’s important cooperation partner in the Caribbean region, and China appreciates Jamaica’s commitment to the one-China principle. China-Jamaica relations embrace new opportunities for development as this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. China will work with the Jamaica to implement the strategic consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, enhance bilateral practical cooperation in various fields, and jointly hold relevant events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations so as to promote China-Jamaica strategic partnership to a higher level.

State Minister Leslie Campbell welcomed Ambassador Chen to his new post, and said that Jamaica attaches great importance to Jamaica-China relations and will continue firmly abiding by the one-China principle. Jamaica extends gratitude to China for its great support and assistance in Jamaica’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Jamaica stands ready to work with China to take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as an opportunity to jointly hold relevant celebration events and enhance bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation in order to inject strong impetus into Jamaica-China strategic partnership.
