Ambassador Zheng Zeguang Meets with Scottish Cabinet Secretary for the Constitution, External Affairs and Culture Angus Robertson

On 23 June, Ambassador Zheng Zeguang met with Angus Robertson, Cabinet Secretary for the Constitution, External Affairs and Culture of the Scottish Government at St. Andrew's House. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening exchanges and cooperation between China and Scotland.

Cabinet Secretary Robertson welcomed the visit of Ambassador Zheng and his delegation. He said that the Scottish Government attaches great importance to the exchanges and cooperation with China and has formulated the development strategy for China for consecutive years. In recent years, Scotland has carried out fruitful cooperation with China in economy and trade, education, culture and tourism. More and more Chinese students are coming to Scotland to study, and the Chinese community has become an important part of Scotland's diverse society, making positive contributions to local economic and social development. The Scottish Government is willing to further enhance friendly communication and cooperation with China to bring more benefits to both peoples.

Ambassador Zheng commended the Scottish Government's consistent commitment to cooperation with China. He said that Scotland has made remarkable contribution to the development of world civilization with its splendid culture in its long history. In recent years, Scotland has established friendly partnerships with China's Shandong Province and a few cities, with fruitful exchanges and cooperation in trade and investment, education and culture, and tourism and sports. China stands ready to continue to strengthen communication and exchange, and expand friendly cooperation with Scotland based on the principle of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, so as to better benefit the people of both sides.

Chinese Consul General to Edinburgh Ma Qiang, and Minister Counsellor Zeng Rong and Counsellor Zhang Limin of the Chinese Embassy in the UK attended the event.
