Ambassador Zheng Zeguang Meets with Lord Provost of Glasgow Jacqueline McLaren

On 22 June, Ambassador Zheng Zeguang visited Glasgow, Scotland's largest city and met with Lord Provost Jacqueline McLaren at the City Halls of Glasgow. The two sides had a friendly talk on strengthening exchanges and cooperation between China and Glasgow.

Lord Provost McLaren warmly welcomed Ambassador Zheng and his delegation. She said that in recent years, Glasgow has made positive progress in the mutually beneficial cooperation with Dalian, Tianjin and other Chinese cities. The Chinese community has become an important part of Glasgow's diverse society. Strengthening exchanges and cooperation with China is crucial to promoting Glasgow's international development strategy. Glasgow welcomes more investors, students and tourists from China.

Ambassador Zheng said that Glasgow, as a historic city and one of the birthplaces of the industrial revolution, remains an important manufacturing and education centre nowadays. In recent years, China and Glasgow have had fruitful exchanges and cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, education and culture. China will continue to support Dalian, Tianjin and other Chinese cities in stepping up friendly cooperation with Glasgow in various areas, so as to bring more tangible benefits to the people of both sides.

Chinese Consul General to Edinburgh Ma Qiang, Counsellor Hua Mei, wife of Ambassador Zheng, Minister Counsellor Zhang Jin, Minister Counsellor Zeng Rong and Counsellor Zhang Limin of the Chinese Embassy in the UK were present.
