Ambassador Zheng Zeguang Meets with Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh Robert Aldridge

On June 23, Ambassador Zheng Zeguang met with Robert Aldridge, Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh, capital of Scotland, at Edinburgh City Hall. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening contacts and cooperation between Chinese cities and Edinburgh.

Lord Provost Aldridge warmly welcomed Ambassador Zheng and his delegation to the city. He said that in recent years Edinburgh has made much progress in practical cooperation with Xi'an, Shenzhen and other Chinese cities and is willing to expand dialogue and exchanges with Chinese partners and strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields. Edinburgh welcomes more Chinese investors, students and tourists to come for investment, study and sighseeing.

Ambassador Zheng said that known for its historical heritage and culture, Edinburgh is also an important hub of innovation and education. In recent years, many cities in China have had fruitful exchanges and cooperation with Edinburgh in economy and trade, education, culture and tourism. The Chinese side will continue to support Xi'an, Shenzhen and other cities in strengthening exchanges and expanding cooperation with Edinburgh, so as to deepen the friendship between the two sides and bring benefit to the two peoples.

Chinese Consul General to Edinburgh Ma Qiang, Counsellor Hua Mei, wife of Ambassador Zheng, Minister Counsellor Zhang Jin, Minister Counsellor Zeng Rong and Counsellor Zhang Limin of the Chinese Embassy in the UK were at the meeting.
