On May 23, 2023, Ambassador Zhang Jianwei met with Kuwaiti Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Research Dr. Hamad Abdulwahab Al-Adwani.

Noting the thriving friendly exchanges and cooperation between China and Kuwait over recent years, Ambassador Zhang pointed out that Chinese President Xi Jinping and Kuwait’s Crown Prince Meshaal had a successful meeting at the end of last year and reached important consensus on efforts to deepen bilateral cooperation in various areas including culture and science and technology. China stands ready to work with the Kuwaiti side to follow through on the important common understandings between the two leaders, enhance exchanges and cooperation on Chinese language education and high technology, and have the two peoples develop closer bonds of friendship. Doing so will elevate China-Kuwait strategic partnership to a new height.

For his part, Hamad said the Kuwaiti side attaches great importance to its relationship with China, as China’s global influence in political, economic, scientific and technological, educational and other fields is growing. To deepen bilateral relationship, it is essential to promote Chinese language education in the country. This will enable the younger generation in Kuwait to broaden their horizons and improve their abilities to better meet the international standards of talent.
