On April 20, 2023, Vice Foreign Minister Deng Li and Permanent State Secretary at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland Jukka Salovaara held the China-Finland political consultation at the vice foreign ministerial level in Beijing.

Deng Li said that Finland is among the first Western countries to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China, and steadiness has always been a prominent feature of China-Finland relations. China is ready to continue to strengthen bilateral exchanges with Finland after its new government is formed, to jointly implement the important common understandings reached between the two heads of state, and work for more achievements in mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields.

Jukka Salovaara said that Finland values its relations with China, and is firmly committed to the one-China policy. The new Finnish government will maintain the stability and continuity of its foreign policy, and Finland is ready to keep communication and interactions with China, deepen bilateral practical cooperation in various fields, and enhance personnel exchanges.

The two sides also exchanged views on China-EU relations, the Ukraine crisis, and other international and regional hotspot issues.
