Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs of Foreign Ministry Zhang Jun Attends High-Level Side Event on"G20's Contribution to the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals"

On September 25, 2015, Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Zhang Jun attended at invitation the High-Level Side Event on "G20's Contribution to the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)" at UN headquarters, New York. The event was hosted by Turkey, presidency of G20this year in collaboration with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Deputy Prime Minister Cevdet Yilmaz of Turkey, Administrator Helen Clark of the UNDP, Secretary-General Angel Gurría of Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and others were present.

Director-General Zhang Jun expressed that the post-2015 development agenda adopted by the UN Sustainable Development Summit this morning is of historic significance. As a major forum for international economic cooperation, G20 should take the lead in implementing the SDGs; formulate specific action plans in national, regional and multilateral levels with practical measures; enhance the North-South dialogue and the South-South cooperation and promote development partnership to form a joint force; greatly promote the long-term and stable growth of global economy so as to lay a solid foundation and provide favorable conditions for achieving the SDGs.

Covering major global economies, G20 is a main platform for international cooperation on economic governance. China will be the G20 Summit presidency in 2016.
