On November 4, 2021, Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue Zhai Jun had a phone conversation with Responsible Official of Sudanese Foreign Affairs Ali Elsadig Ali.

Ali Elsadig Ali briefed on the latest developments of Sudan's situation to Special Envoy Zhai Jun. He thanks China for its valuable support in his country's political transition and social and economic development and hopes that China will continue to play an active role on the issue of Sudan. Ali Elsadig Ali reiterated the great importance Sudan attaches to developing its relations with China and its willingness to maintain close communication and coordination with China to push for new progress in bilateral relations.

Zhai Jun said that China is concerned about the recent developments in Sudan. China wishes to see Sudan remain peaceful and stable and is ready to keep communicating and coordinating with the Sudanese side and play an active role in facilitating its political transition. China opposes the interference in Sudan's internal affairs by external forces and believes the Sudanese people have the wisdom and capabilities to handle their internal affairs and resolve their own problems. China advocates dispute settlement through dialogue and consultation and supports all parties in Sudan in focusing on the people's fundamental interests and holding in-depth dialogues within the framework of the Constitutional Declaration and the Juba Peace Agreement, so as to put the past behind them, reach consensus, and lay a solid foundation and accumulate favorable conditions for the political transition in the next phase. China calls for the international community to provide more "positive energy" for Sudan's political transition, support the "Sudanese owned and Sudanese led" political transition, support all fractions in Sudan in enhancing solidarity and resolving differences through dialogue, help Sudan overcome difficulties in social and economic development, and provide more humanitarian assistance.

Zhai Jun said that China and Sudan are good friends, partners and brothers who understand each other and treat each other equally. In the past 62 years since our two countries established diplomatic ties, our bilateral relations have maintained sound and stable development. China is ready to work with Sudan to deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields and open up new prospects of China-Sudan relations.
