On January 27, 2022, Vice Foreign Minister Deng Li held virtual political consultations with Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Yousef Al-Dobeay.

Deng Li said, China and the Islamic world enjoy traditional friendship, frequent political exchanges, and fruitful cooperation in economy, trade, pandemic response, people-to-people exchanges and other fields. China, Islamic countries and the OIC should continue to support each other on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns, jointly lead developing countries in unity and cooperation, enhance exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, and jointly uphold multilateralism, equity and justice. Deng Li introduced China's ethnic and religious policies, Xinjiang's achievements in economic and social development, ethnic equality and unity, and freedom of religious belief, and pointed out that certain countries' attempts to spread Xinjiang-related rumors, tarnish China's image and contain China's development will not succeed.

Dobeay said, the OIC and Islamic countries speak highly of the profound friendship and in-depth cooperation between the Islamic world and China, and are willing to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in pandemic response, education, science, technology and finance to push for continuous development of relations between the Islamic world and China. Dobeay said, the OIC delegations have visited China several times in recent years, and saw with their own eyes the economic and social development of Xinjiang and the situation that people there live and work in peace and contentment. What they saw and heard was completely different from the hype-up by Western media. The OIC appreciates the Chinese government's protection of the rights of Muslims, and wishes the Chinese people of all ethnic groups unity, progress, harmony and happiness.

Both sides also exchanged views on the Palestinian question and other issues of common concern.
