On February 14, 2022, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Latin American Affairs Qiu Xiaoqi attended the reception celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-Mexico diplomatic relations held by the Embassy of the United Mexican States in China.

Qiu Xiaoqi said in his speech that since China and Mexico established diplomatic ties half a century ago, especially since the two countries established a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2013, bilateral relations have developed rapidly and friendly cooperation in various fields has yielded fruitful results, bringing tangible benefits to the two peoples. China stands ready to work with Mexico to take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties as an opportunity to strengthen friendship and mutual trust, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, promote common development, and continuously enrich the China-Mexico comprehensive strategic partnership so that the two peoples can forever be good friends who trust each other as well as good partners that share prosperity.

Mexican Ambassador to China Jesus Seade said, over the past 50 years, Mexico-China relations have become increasingly mature and stable and the two countries have conducted friendly cooperation in a wide range of areas. Mexico thanks China for providing medical supplies and vaccines to support Mexico's fight against the pandemic, and is ready to grandly celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries together with China and push for deeper bilateral relations, so as to bring greater benefits to the two peoples.

The unveiling ceremony of commemorative stamps for the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of China-Mexico Diplomatic Relations was also held at the reception. This set of commemorative stamps was jointly issued by China Post and Mexico Post on February 14, and features Dengfeng Observatory in Henan Province and the Kukulkan Pyramid. The Chinese civilization and Mayan civilization illuminate each other on small stamps.

On the evening, 15 pairs of sister province/state and cities of the two countries had their landmark buildings lit up with the colors of the national flag or hold a light show in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-Mexico diplomatic ties.
