Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Liu Jinsong Meets with Pakistani Ambassador to China Moin ul Haque

On June 8, 2022, Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Liu Jinsong met with Pakistani Ambassador to China Moin ul Haque.

Ambassador Haque spoke highly of the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between China and Pakistan and thanked China for its recent prompt response to help Pakistan put out the fire in the Suleiman Mountains of Baluchistan Province. Haque said, not long ago, new Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari paid a successful visit to China. This is the first official bilateral visit by Bilawal as Pakistani Foreign Minister and also the first offline interaction between the foreign ministers of the two countries after the establishment of the new Pakistani administration, which demonstrates once again the fine tradition of high mutual trust and mutually beneficial cooperation between Pakistan and China. Foreign Minister Bilawal held official talks with State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and issued a joint statement, during which the two sides reached important consensus on Pakistan-China relations and practical cooperation. Pakistan is ready to work with China to ensure smooth alignment and implementation, deepen all-round practical cooperation and actively promote the high-quality construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) so that Pakistan-China relations will better benefit the two countries and two peoples.

Director-General Liu Jinsong said, Foreign Minister Bilawal's visit to China is a great success. State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held fruitful talks with Foreign Minister Bilawal. The two sides issued a joint statement with rich contents, which has further consolidated the traditional friendship between China and Pakistan and enhanced political mutual trust between the two countries. China is ready to work with Pakistan to seize the good momentum and promptly implement the consensus reached by the two foreign ministers.

Liu Jinsong said, all-round cooperation between China and Pakistan has yielded fruitful results and enjoys broad space. Recently, the Karot Hydropower Plant, the first hydroelectric project under the CPEC, was officially connected to the grid and generate electricity. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif attended the inauguration ceremony of the East Bay Expressway of the Gwadar Port, and held talks with Chinese enterprises to help them solve their problems. This was all good news. China attaches great importance to Pakistan's request for China's assistance in extinguishing the wildfire. Competent authorities immediately made arrangements, mobilized resources of all parties, held a video conference as soon as possible, and made all-out efforts to assist Pakistan in putting out the wildfire. Going forward, the two sides can deepen China-Pakistan cooperation in disaster prevention and mitigation. China is ready to work with Pakistan to strengthen practical cooperation, exchanges and mutual learning across the board, advance the construction of the CPEC in a safe, smooth and high-quality manner, constantly enrich and deepen the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between China and Pakistan, and build an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era.
