On June 13, 2022, South African Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Candith Mashego-Dlamini met with Director-General of the Department of African Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Wu Peng in Pretoria. Chinese Ambassador to South Africa Chen Xiaodong and Acting Deputy Director-General of the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa Boitumelo Makoko were present.

Wu Peng said that in recent years, the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and South Africa has continued to deepen, with fruitful practical cooperation in various fields and close coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs and multilateral mechanisms such as BRICS. China attaches great importance to developing China-South Africa relations and appreciates South Africa's adherence to the one-China principle. China is willing to work with South Africa to actively implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and the relevant measures of the nine programs of the Eighth Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, continue to support each other on issues related to each other's core interests, and jointly safeguard international fairness and justice and the common interests of developing countries.

Dlamini said, South Africa cherishes its friendship with China and adheres to and upholds the one-China principle. The two sides have established multi-level and multi-field bilateral exchange mechanisms, maintained close coordination in international and regional affairs, and continuously strengthened mutual understanding and mutual trust. South Africa regards China as one of its most important strategic partners, hopes to expand bilateral cooperation in the fields of trade, investment and financing, and infrastructure construction, and looks forward to working with the majority of developing countries in solidarity and coordination, including China, to speak in one voice in the international arena.
