Tanzanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Liberata Mulamula Meets with Director-General of the Department of African Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Wu Peng

On June 20, 2022, Tanzanian Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation Liberata Mulamula met with Director-General of the Department of African Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Wu Peng. Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania Chen Mingjian, Permanent Secretary of Tanzanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation Joseph Edward Sokoine and other officials were present.

Mulamula welcomed Wu Peng's visit and said that the Tanzania-China friendship enjoys a long history and is deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. Last June, President Samia Suluhu Hassan had a successful phone conversation with President Xi Jinping, during which the two presidents reached important consensus on the development of bilateral relations. Since I took office, I have met with State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi twice. Tanzania attaches great importance to developing friendly cooperation with China and hopes to strengthen strategic synergy with China, deepen practical cooperation in various fields and bring more benefits to the two peoples.

Wu Peng said, China cherishes its traditional friendship with Tanzania and attaches great importance to the development of bilateral relations. President Xi Jinping and President Hassan had an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral relations and issues of common concern during their phone conversation. China is ready to strengthen synergy with Tanzania, actively implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and relevant measures of the nine programs of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, and push China-Tanzania friendly cooperation to a new level.

During his visit to Tanzania, Wu Peng paid a visit and extended regards to Former Tanzanian Prime Minister Salim Ahmad Salim who was awarded the Medal of Friendship from China, and made an inspection tour to Dar es Salaam Station of the Tanzania-Zambia Railway.
