On June 22, 2022, Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Liu Jinsong met with Ambassador of Sri Lanka to China Dr. Palitha Kohona. Kohona said, as one of the first countries to support the restoration of the lawful seat of the People's Republic of China in the United Nations, Sri Lanka has always unswervingly adhered to the one-China principle. Recently, Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe publicly reiterated through the media again that Sri Lanka firmly supports the one-China principle and recognizes the Government of the People's Republic of China as the sole legal government of China and Taiwan is a part of China. Sri Lanka's position remains firm and unshakable. Liu Jinsong expressed his appreciation for this. The two sides also had a friendly and in-depth exchange of views on bilateral cooperation.
