Burkina Faso's Interim President Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba meets with Director-General Wu Peng.

On June 27, 2022, Burkina Faso's Interim President Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabe Abroad of the Interim Government Olivia Rouamba met with visiting Director-General of the Department of African Affairs of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Wu Peng respectively.

Damiba welcomed Wu Peng's visit. He said that Burkina Faso will continue to adhere to the one-China principle and stay committed to developing bilateral friendly cooperative relations. The Interim Government of Burkina Faso places China at the top priority among all its cooperative partners and is willing to push bilateral friendly cooperation to a higher level. He hopes that China will continue to support Burkina Faso in safeguarding security and stability, realizing economic development and improving people's livelihood.

Rouamba appreciated the high-level cooperation relationship between Burkina Faso and China and thanked China for its strong support for the country's response to health, security and humanitarian crises. She said that the success of the Eighth Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) last year has injected new impetus into the friendly cooperation between Burkina Faso and China. She hopes to deepen practical cooperation with China in various fields within the framework of the FOCAC's nine programs.

Wu Peng said that since the resumption of diplomatic ties between China and Burkina Faso, bilateral relations have enjoyed sound development and the fruits of cooperation have benefited the two peoples. China appreciates Burkina Faso's Interim Government's adherence to the friendly policy toward China and its firm pursuit of the one-China principle. China is ready to work with Burkina Faso to strengthen mutual support on issues concerning each other's core interests, promote practical cooperation in various fields, and push forward the continuous development of bilateral relations.
