On June 29, 2022, Togolese Prime Minister Victoire Sidemeho Tomegah-Dogbe met with visiting Director-General of the Department of African Affairs of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Wu Peng at the Prime Minister's Office. Chinese Ambassador to Togo Chao Weidong was present.

Dogbe welcomed Wu Peng's visit, saying that Togo-China relations continue to grow at a high level, featuring high political mutual trust, mutual respect in exchanges and mutual support on international occasions, laying a solid foundation for bilateral cooperation in various fields. As this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Togo and China, Togo is willing to take this opportunity to further promote the development of bilateral relations. Togo enjoys a stable political and security situation, favorable geographical location, complete infrastructure and hard-working and enthusiastic people. Chinese enterprises are welcome to invest and do business in Togo to help the country boost economic development and improve people's livelihood.

Wu Peng said that I am very pleased to visit Togo on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Togo. Over the past half-century, China and Togo have treated each other as equals, united and helped each other and forged a profound traditional friendship. In recent years, under the common concern and guidance of the leaders of the two countries, China and Togo have continuously enhanced bilateral political mutual trust, constantly developed practical cooperation, and firmly supported each other in international and regional affairs, writing a chapter of friendship. China is ready to work with Togo to carry forward traditional friendship, expand practical cooperation, strengthen communication and coordination in international affairs and push for greater development of bilateral relations.

Wu Peng and his delegation visited Togo from June 28 to 29, 2022. During the visit, they also held meetings and talks with Vice President of the National Assembly of Togo, Togolese Foreign Minister Robert Dussey, Secretary-General of the Presidency Sandra Ablamba Johnson, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Togo and others.
