Special Representative of the Chinese Government on European Affairs Wu Hongbo visited Spain on September 10-13, 2022, during which he met with Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Spanish Congress of Deputies Pau Mari-Klose, and State Secretary for Foreign and Global Affairs Angeles Moreno Bau respectively, and had informal discussions with scholars of Real Instituto Elcano and business representatives of the "Leading Brands of Spain Forum".

The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on developing China-Spain and China-EU relations, strengthening exchanges and cooperation in various fields as well as international and regional issues of mutual interest, and agreed to further deepen China-Spain comprehensive strategic partnership, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, and jointly celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
