On October 31, 2022, Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu met with new Russian Ambassador to China Igor Morgulov.

Ma Zhaoxu expressed welcome to  Morgulov for his assumption of the new post in China and briefed him on the main achievements and great significance of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Ma Zhaoxu said that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin, China-Russia relations have kept the positive growing momentum, and comprehensive strategic coordination between the two sides has seen high-quality development, setting a fine example of relations between major countries in today's world. China is ready to work with Russia to advance exchanges and cooperation in various fields and further deepen strategic mutual trust and coordination, so as to constantly bring China-Russia relations in the new era to new heights.

Morgulov extended warm congratulations on the success of the 20th CPC National Congress. He expressed that Russia is ready to work with China to fully implement the common understanding reached by the two heads of state and keep close exchanges and cooperation in various fields, so as to further deepen the Russia-China comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era.
