From November 27 to 29, 2022, Special Representative Qiu Xiaoqi of the Chinese Government on Latin American Affairs visited Ecuador, during which he met respectively with President Guillermo Lasso and Foreign Minister Juan Carlos Holguin. Chinese Ambassador to Ecuador Chen Guoyou was present at relevant events.

Special Representative Qiu Xiaoqi gave an in-depth introduction to the important significance and far-reaching influence of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and exchanged views with the Ecuadorian side on deepening China-Ecuador comprehensive strategic partnership, noting that China is ready to make joint efforts with Ecuador to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and work for new progress in cooperation across the board. The Ecuadorian side extended warm congratulations on the success of the 20th CPC National Congress and President Xi Jinping's re-election as General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, and said that developing relations with China is a priority of its foreign policy. Ecuador is ready to strengthen political mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation with China and jointly take bilateral relations to a higher level.
