On December 2, 2022, Vice Foreign Minister Deng Li held the seventh round of China-Austria Political Consultation at Vice Foreign Ministerial Level with Secretary General for Foreign Affairs Peter Launsky-Tieffenthal in the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of Austria via video link.

Deng Li said that since the establishment of the China-Austria friendly strategic partnership, bilateral cooperation in various fields has witnessed sustained and in-depth development. Last year, China and Austria celebrated the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. The two sides should take this opportunity to continue the development momentum of bilateral relations, uphold mutual respect and mutual trust, increase exchanges and dialogues at all levels, deepen pragmatic cooperation in various fields, promote mutual respect between China and the European Union (EU), continuously strengthen dialogue and cooperation, expand mutual benefit and win-win results, and contribute to world peace and prosperity.

Launsky-Tieffenthal said that Austria attaches great importance to the development of Austria-China relations, and will, as always, stay committed to the one-China policy. Austria is ready to continuously increase political, economic, cultural and people-to-people exchanges between Austria and China, and constantly expand bilateral and multilateral cooperation in such areas as elections at international organizations. Austria is also committed to promoting the in-depth development of EU-China relations.

The two sides also exchanged views on international hotspot issues.
