Assistant Foreign Minister Nong Rong Visits Vietnam

From March 9 to 11, 2023, Assistant Foreign Minister Nong Rong visited Vietnam. During his visit, Nong Rong met respectively with Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu. The two sides exchanged views on China-Vietnam relations and international and regional issues of mutual interest and concern. Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Bo attended relevant activities.

Nong Rong noted that shortly after the successful conclusion of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, General Secretary and President Xi Jinping invited General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to China for a visit, and they jointly drew a grand blueprint for the China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in the new era. With the joined efforts of both sides, the important common understandings reached between the top leaders of the two parties have been implemented with concrete results. China is ready to work with Vietnam to further strengthen high-level exchanges, consolidate strategic mutual trust, enhance experience sharing in governing the Party and the country, improve and upgrade economic and trade cooperation, advance cultural and people-to-people exchanges and cooperation at the sub-national level, and strengthen coordination and cooperation on multilateral affairs, to jointly respond to the changing regional situation and global challenges and push China-Vietnam relations to new heights.

Warmly congratulating China on the election of a new national leadership at the first session of the 14th National People's Congress of China, the Vietnamese side said that their leaders have sent the warmest and most sincere congratulations to President Xi Jinping on his unanimous election as president of the People's Republic of China and chairman of the Central Military Commission of the PRC. Vietnam is ready to work with China to follow through on the important common understandings reached between the top leaders of the two parties as a guide for the way forward, give play to and enhance the effectiveness of the existing cooperation mechanisms, advance exchanges and cooperation in various fields in a coordinated manner, and strengthen communication and coordination in regional cooperation and on multilateral platforms, to further demonstrate the strategic significance and substantial importance of the relations between the two parties and two countries. Vietnam thanked China for having the country as one of the first pilot destinations for its resumed outbound group tours, and will provide warm service and security safeguards for Chinese tourists.
