On March 15, 2023, Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Xue Bing met with Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission Monique Nsanzabaganwa at the headquarters of the African Union (AU). Head of Mission of China to the African Union Ambassador Hu Changchun attended the event.

The two sides exchanged in-depth views on such topics as China-AU relations, the progress of the “Outlook on Peace and Development in the Horn of Africa”, and the situation in the Horn of Africa region. Monique Nsanzabaganwa said that the AU highly appreciates and supports the Outlook proposed by China, and supports China in playing a constructive role in peace and security affairs in the Horn of Africa. The AU stands ready to work with China to make positive contributions to peace, stability and development in the Horn of Africa.
