On April 11, 2023, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang met with Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary A. DiCarlo in Beijing.

Qin Gang said that China is a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council and a responsible major country. Since the restoration of its lawful seat in the UN in 1971, China has been among the major supporters of and important participants in the UN cause. Be it at present or in the future, China will firmly safeguard the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, and always be a builder of world peace, a contributor to global development and a defender of international order.

Qin Gang pointed out that the China-UN cooperation is not only beneficial to each other, but also to the world. Under the guidance of the vision of building a human community with a shared future proposed by President Xi Jinping, China has fully engaged in the work of the UN, resolutely fulfilled its international obligations, actively championed solidarity and cooperation, and provided global public goods. The vision of building a human community with a shared future is being translated into action and reality on the UN platform. The Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative, and China's good offices to facilitate the resumption of diplomatic ties between Saudi Arabia and Iran, and to promote peace talks on the Ukraine issue are all living examples of putting the vision into practice.

Qin Gang noted that in the face of the changes and turbulence in the world today, to break the vicious cycle of resurgent conflicts and major-country confrontations, countries must pursue true multilateralism, uphold fairness and justice, and strengthen solidarity and cooperation. China will firmly support the UN in playing a constructive role on international and regional hotspot issues, and is ready to be a trustworthy and reliable cooperative partner of the UN in safeguarding world peace and promoting common development.

DiCarlo spoke highly of the China-UN cooperation, thanked China for its strong support for the UN cause, and appreciated China's important contributions to promoting international peace and security. The UN hopes to constantly deepen cooperation with China to jointly contribute more solutions to international and regional hotspot issues.
