On April 6, 2023, Vice Foreign Minister Xie Feng met with the Chief Policy Officer of Ford Motor Company Steven Croley during his visit to China at the latter’s request. The two sides exchanged views on China-U.S. relations and other issues of mutual interest and concern.

Xie Feng briefed him on China's Two Sessions with four keywords, namely "stability", "growth", "openness" and "peace". He elaborated on China's principled position on developing China-U.S. relations and pointed out that the pressing priority now is to uphold the one-China principle, which is the political foundation for China-U.S. relations. He noted that the best way to consolidate the foundation is to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in economy, trade and other practical areas. The long-term solution is to enhance strategic mutual trust and form the right perception.

Xie Feng encouraged Ford Motor Company to further explore the Chinese market, carry out more mutually beneficial cooperation projects, be a good narrator of "three stories", namely the story of a real China, the story of mutually beneficial cooperation between Ford and China, and the story of China-U.S. friendship, and play a positive role in bringing China-U.S. relations back to the track of sound and steady development.
