On April 17, 2023, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang had a phone call with Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Riyadh al-Maliki.

Qin Gang noted that China is highly concerned about the recent escalation of conflict and tension between Palestine and Israel, and has promoted consultations at the UN Security Council and maintained close communication with the international community in an effort to cool down the situation. China strongly condemns words and deeds in violation of relevant resolutions of the United Nations, supports Palestine and Israel in resuming peace talks on the basis of the two-state solution at an early date, and is ready to play a positive role in this regard.

Riyadh al-Maliki highly appreciated China for its clear position on the Palestinian question, and thanked China for supporting Palestine’s national self-determination and establishment of an independent state. Palestine welcomes all the efforts made by China. Riyadh al-Maliki expressed appreciation of China’s effort to facilitate the resumption of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran, saying that this demonstrates China's role as a responsible major country. Qin Gang emphasized that China always supports the Middle East countries in upholding strategic autonomy and keeping their future in their own hands, and is ready to continue to make contributions to peace and stability in the Middle East.

The two sides agreed to follow through on the important common understandings reached between the two heads of state, advance cooperation in various fields, and bring traditional friendly relations between the two countries to new heights. The Palestinian side expressed its firm support for the one-China principle and opposition to interference by external forces in China's internal affairs under the pretext of human rights and other issues.
