Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Eurasian Affairs Li Hui Holds a Briefing

On June 2, 2023, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Eurasian Affairs Li Hui held a briefing, and briefed diplomatic envoys to China on his recent visit to Ukraine, Poland, France, Germany, the headquarters of the European Union, and Russia for a political settlement of the Ukraine crisis.

Li Hui briefed on his communication and exchanges with leaders and responsible officials of the diplomatic sector, among others, of relevant countries during his visit, and said that all parties spoke highly of China’s efforts to promote talks for peace and appreciated China’s sincere wishes for and contribution to promoting a peaceful settlement of the crisis. The current situation of the Ukraine crisis is still fraught with uncertainties. China believes that as long as there is a glimmer of hope for peace, active efforts should be made. China is ready to do anything that is conducive to deescalating the situation and promoting negotiations. China will continue to act upon such positions and propositions as joint efforts in four areas, four principles and three observations put forward by President Xi Jinping, strengthen dialogue and exchanges with all other parties, continue to build up consensus and mutual trust, encourage the international community to find the broadest common understandings, and contribute China’s wisdom and strength to promoting the political settlement of the Ukraine crisis.

Li Hui also had exchanges with the diplomatic envoys present at the briefing.
