Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Eurasian Affairs Li Hui Has a Phone Call with Pope's Special Envoy to Ukraine

On August 14, 2024, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Eurasian Affairs Li Hui had a phone call with Pope Francis' Special Envoy to Ukraine Cardinal Matteo Zuppi at the latter's request.

Li Hui appreciated Vatican's constant efforts to mediate the Ukraine crisis and provide humanitarian assistance. He stressed that the current situation shows the significance of the six common understandings issued by China and Brazil. Matteo Zuppi, on behalf of Pope Francis, thanked Chinese government for its unswerving efforts in promoting peace and expressed his appreciation on the positive role of the six common understandings in the political settlement of the Ukraine crisis.

The two sides also had an exchange of views on the current situation of the Ukraine crisis, the process of peace talk, and others.
