On October 31, 2024, Assistant Foreign Minister Miao Deyu held talks with President of the 79th Session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly Philémon Yang. The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on the current international situation, China's cooperation with the UN, and other issues.

Miao Deyu stated that given the current international situation is changing and chaotic, the role and status of the UN should be strengthened, not weakened. Next year marks the 80th anniversary of the founding of the UN. As a permanent member of the Security Council and the largest developing country, China will follow the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind put forward by President Xi Jinping, and continue to further participate in the work of the UN, strengthen the synergy of the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative with the UN Agenda. China will provide new opportunities for the world through Chinese modernization, promote the international community to work together for development, security, and the flourishing of civilization, jointly implement the Pact for the Future, and build a more just and equitable international order.

Philémon Yang highly appreciates China's development achievements and its firm support for the cause of the UN, saying that China is an important force in promoting world peace and development, as well as defending international fairness and justice. The world today faces multiple challenges, and the UN is willing to further strengthen cooperation with China, uphold multilateralism, and enhance the unity and cooperation of member states, and take the implementation of the Pact for the Future as an opportunity to better promote the cause of human progress.
