On December 24, 2024, Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Liu Jinsong met with new Ambassador of Bangladesh to China Nazmul Islam.
Liu Jinsong welcomed Nazmul Islam to China for assuming his new post, and said that China and Bangladesh are traditional friendly neighbors. China is committed to developing friendly cooperation with Bangladesh based on the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, and supports the governance of the Bangladeshi interim government. China is ready to maintain high-level exchanges with Bangladesh, strengthen the exchange of governance experience, and take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-Bangladesh diplomatic relations and the "China-Bangladesh Year of People-to-People Exchanges" next year as an opportunity to enhance communication and cooperation, advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and continuously enrich the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Bangladesh.
Nazmul Islam expressed great honor at being on a mission to China, and thanked the Chinese side for its long-term assistance to the economic and social development of Bangladesh. He stated that Bangladesh attaches great importance to its friendly relations with China, firmly pursues the one-China principle, and looks forward to celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the "China-Bangladesh Year of People-to-People Exchanges" with the Chinese side, and strengthening cooperation in areas such as industry, healthcare and education, so as to push for greater development of Bangladesh-China relations.
