The Chinese Government Has Decided to Provide Additional Emergency Humanitarian Aid to Sri Lanka

On October 30, Ambassador Qizhenhong met with Sri Lankan Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya. Ambassador Qizhenhong expressed that the Chinese government is highly concerned over the flood disasterin Sri Lanka and has decided to provide an additional batch of important emergency humanitarian aid of goods. This not only reflects the friendship between the two peoples but also demonstrates China's strong support for the new Sri Lankan government. He believes that under the strong leadership of President Dissanayake, the Sri Lankan government and people will overcome difficulties and rebuild their homes soon.

Prime Minister Amarasuriya expressed gratitude for the generous assistance and steadfast support from Chinese government and people. She noted that, in addition to the emergency assistance in cash already provided, China is offering an 10 millionRMB worth of emergency humanitarian materialsagain, which deeply moved the Sri Lankan side. This further affirms that China is a trustworthy and reliable friend and partner. The people of Sri Lanka, especially those in disaster-affected areas, will surely be grateful, and the friendship between China and Sri Lanka will undoubtedly grow stronger and endure over time.

Both sides also engaged in extensive and in-depth exchanges on deepening pragmatic cooperation between the two countries.
