Chinese Ambassador to Guyana Guo Haiyan Signs MoU with GNBS to Strongthen Cooperation

On December 6th, on behalf of the State Administration for Market Regulation (National Standardization Administration) of The People's Republic of China (SAMR/SAC), H.E. Ambassador Guo Haiyan and Mr. Bassoo, Executive Director of Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS), signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation between State Administration for Market Regulation (National Standardization Administration) of The People's Republic of China (SAMR/SAC) and Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS). Mr Li Hanqing, Counselor of the Embassy also attended.

Ambassador GUO pointed out that standardization cooperation is a crucial foundation of China-Guyana economic and trade cooperation, and the signing of the MoU is of great significance since it marks the first remarkable breakthrough in this field between two countries. She further noted that, amid the robust development of China-Guyana economic and trade cooperation, advancing standardization efforts will help reduce technical barriers to trade, enhance the quality and effectiveness of cooperation, and promote deeper and more substantial progress.

Bassoo stated that Guyana is committed to working with China to improve trade relationships through the development and promotion of standardization.
