Chinese Embassy in Norway Holds International Chinese Language Day Event

On April 5, the "International Chinese Language Day" event took place in Oslo. A total number of over 300 guests, including Chinese language and culture enthusiasts, teachers, students and parents, winners of this year’s Chinese Bridge Competition in Norway attended the event. Among those attendees were Mr. Gerard Doetjes, Director of Norwegian National Centre for English and Foreign Languages in Education, and Ms. Tone Flood Strøm, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Higher Education.

During his remarks, Chargé d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Norway, Mr. Zhou Ningyu, emphasized that the Chinese language is the key to unlocking the 5,000-year-old Chinese civilization and a bridge for cultural exchange and mutual learning among world civilizations. He noted that China is fully advancing Chinese modernization, and promoting building of a community with a shared future for mankind, so as to contribute to the progress of humanity and world peace and development. He also extended a warm welcome to Norwegian friends to visit China, to further deepen understanding, share wisdom, and forge friendships.

The event featured performances by Norwegian Chinese language and culture enthusiasts, including Chinese martial arts, Kung Fu fan dance, and traditional song. Guests also shared cultural experiences such as tea art, calligraphy, paper-cutting, and Chinese cuisine tasting, enjoying a vibrant and festive atmosphere.
